OCTOBER/NOVEMBER
2008 WALKER EVANS - MARTSON HILL EDTIONS |
Many of Evans'
most evocative images were made in 1935 - 36, for the US government's
Farm Security Administration. This was to be his most seminal
work. In 1938 the museum of modern art honored Evans with its
first one-man photography exhibition, Walker Evans American Photographs.
Over one half of the 100 photographs shown were from the FSA series-recognition
that while these images succeeded as clear and dispassionate records,
they represented higher value as lyric documents. Exhibit opens
10/23/08 reception 10/24/08 @ 8PM RSVP please. sjr@livinginphoto.com

STAMATELOS, MICHAEL MAAS, GALLERY PHOTOGS
PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS & PHOTOGRAPHS |
Ted Stamatelos,
my art is a quest for meaning beneath the surface of what we consider
reality. It depicts a quantum realm that under pins the ground
of what we believe we see and understand. It is a quest for myth
both personal nd universal in an increasingly superficial world.
~ Michael Georg Maas, painting and drawing remain for me the truest
modes for attaining these objectives. I have always been entranced
by the way light can transition into dark and back to light during
the course of 24 hours |
